Dear Friends

WHO has launched a global survey to gather people’s views on which assistive devices are most necessary and useful. On the basis of the survey results, and after expert consultation, WHO will develop a list of essential assistive products, similar to the WHO Essential Medicines List.

The tool will help governments to plan and focus efforts on acquiring the 50 top priority products for their populations and, most importantly, it will improve the everyday lives of the elderly and the many people with disabilities. The aim is to increase access to assistive technologies for 1 billion people who need them today, and to reach 1.5 billion by 2030.

You may access the APL Global Survey to identify the top 50 priority assistive products through this link:

The survey is open to all the stakeholders, especially users or potential users of the assistive products, their families, and organizations. WHO is aiming for the highest number of responses and that too from as many countries as possible. The survey is available in 52 languages. Unfortunately, the online survey program could only support 37 languages but all the translated versions are available at the WHO website in Word and PDF format:

Please share the link among your contacts to ensure larger participation in India to identify 50 top priority assistive products.
