Eligibility: Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists

In this one-of-kind Certification workshop, Podiatrist Dr. Emily Splichal will explore the benefits of barefoot training in the rehab setting. Explore the concept of barefoot science and how it can enhance the timing of muscle activation patterns as it relates to the prevention of hip, knee and foot injuries.

Using hands-on demonstrations and discussion of the latest barefoot research, professionals will be guided through common injuries in the lower extremity and their association with lack of neuromuscular control and delayed muscle activation. Return to your patients and clients with barefoot training techniques and a solid understanding of from the ground up programming to improve balance & stability, body strength, lower extremity alignment and lumbopelvic and stability.

Movement Specialists - With the foot as the foundation to human movement, many movement dysfunctions treated by movement specialists integrate the foot. By understanding and implementing barefoot science and from the ground upTM corrective exercise techniques, movement specialists will be able to confidently address all movement dysfunctions.

Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists & Chiropractors - Evidence supports corrective exercise techniques using barefoot training as a powerful aid for patients with ACL injuries, low back pain, ankle instability, SI joint dysfunction, hip labrum injuries, and several other lower extremity imbalances.

1)Whats d difference between barefoot trainer and rehab specialist course?

Barefoot Rehab is similar ot Barefoot Training Specialist but adds more clinical approach with specific diagnosis / injuries etc. It is more geared for the Physical Therapist, Doctor or Fitness Professional who does primarily corrective exercise and pre-hab / rehab

2) What techniques are we gonna learn?

Learn concepts including:

  • Foot & ankle anatomy

  • Foot to core sequencing

  • Pre-activation training

  • Small nerve proprioceptive training

  • Innate loading response

  • The catapult effect & energy transfer 

  • More!

3) Therapeutic excercises or orthotic corrections or both?

Both but more more on the side of corrective exercise. If an attendee makes orthotics then I can guide them on more appropriate modifications but focus will be more on correctives.

4) in this course are we gonna learn biomechanical evaluation?

  • Open chain foot / lower extremity assessment

  • Closed chain foot / lower extremity assessment

  • sLittle bit on gait assessment.
